1. Know why you want to be healthy.
Because there will be some lifestyle changes that you will need to make to achieve your vision of health, you are going to need have a good enough reason that helps motivate you to do the work.
2. Know where you want to go.
PERSONAL VISION OF HEALTH
Decide what kind of life you want to live and how your health affects that vision. Reach down deep inside yourself and determine just what you are willing to do to make the personal changes necessary to achieve that vision of health. This is your "Point Z".
3. Know your starting point.
LIFE AND HEALTH ASSESSMENT
In order to know how to get to where you want to go, you must first know where you're starting from. No one ever reaches their destination without knowing their starting point. This is your "Point A".
4. Take ownership of your health.
Accept that your choices and your actions are the single greatest determinant for how healthy you are. Not your genes, not your environment, not your insurance company, not your government, YOU. Take back control of your personal health by claiming ownership of YOU.
5. Learn the best practices to help you achieve your vision.
To get from "Point A" to "Point Z" requires you to first learn all the steps needed in between. Some will be easy and some will be difficult. This is the part you may need the most help with. If you spend the effort learning about your health, it will make it much easier to decide which changes you need to make that will have the biggest impact on your health.
6. Enact processes to make changes.
You don't have to take all the steps at once. Start small, start easy. Gain confidence in your ability to change and feel the effects of your actions. Momentum will develop as you move from step to step. Now is the time to make the changes necessary to positively affect your health.
7. Build on success, learn from challenge.
REVIEW, REVISE, REPEAT
There will be changes that you make that will come easily. Other changes will be more difficult and will require you to adjust your method of attack. Revise what you're doing as necessary and once you've achieved your desired intention, repeat the process for a new intention. With time, your small changes will add up to great changes and you will achieve your personal vision of health.
