MEASURES OF HEALTH

"Feeling" healthy is not the most objective way to determine your health status.  While assessments, measures, and numbers are not always the best predictor of personal health, they do help provide targets and relative comparisons that give us a good starting point to help determine general health status.

EXCELLENT Indicator

VO2 MAX

Your VO2 max is your maximal oxygen uptake and it reflects how well your body takes in and uses oxygen when you exercise.

FAIR Indicator

BODY MASS INDEX (BMI)

BMI is used for its simplicity as an indicator for healthy weight.  It is calculated by taking your weight and dividing it by your height. The problem with it is that it doesn't differentiate between lean muscle mass (good weight) and fat (bad weight).

WEIGHT

WEIGHT-HIP RATIO

BLOOD PRESSURE

HEART RATE

CHOLESTEROL

BODY FAT PERCENTAGE
